The Important Bird Area (IBA) Program is designated by a specific set of scientific criteria and includes critical sites in over 100 countries. The Kilpoola area is identified as one of these globally sensitive areas. This site is adjacent to the Washington State border which makes it essential for the north and south movement of both plant and animal species.
