Join Anona Kampe, Penticton Indian Band member in the Okanagan Nation, for a short but steep hike up the mountain known today as Giants Head in Summerland. Anona will explain what the syilx Okanagan people have called this mountain since time immemorial. She will share the traditional story called captikʷɬ in her language, which explains why this mountain is called kɬ t̓u pus. Participants will learn about local plants, harvesting practices, animals and landforms. Anona will share the Okanagan language called nsyilxcn and translations in English. Dress for the weather, at the top of the mountain it can get quite windy. Bring something to sit on while listening to the story (a small blanket or towel).
