Description Of This Tour
Join avid hiker Sue Mavety on a relatively easy trek on forest trails through the Mahoney Lake Ecological Reserve. View the world-renowned Mahoney Lake, a saline lake having unique limnological features and known for its rare Algae. Along the way you’ll also visit an old earthen dam. We enjoyed the tour but we feel it should be rated with a difficulty level of 3.

The hike was great and the leader good. It was a HARD hike and should have been a 3 to 3.5. We had some elderly people that could not go up and down so much and therefore missed a lot of the hike. Also, “Additional Items to Bring” had no notice to bring lunch so people were unprepared for that.

Should be a 3 or 3.5. Good tour but hard terrain.

Another amazing tour, my third in 3 days with the festival. All guides have been exceptional including Sue today. Although this hike may be ‘relatively easy’ for avid hikers there are some decent ups and downs involved. The distance should also be mentioned. The beauty of the area compels you on but I got a pretty darn good workout today.
