Description Of This Tour
Join amateur historian and OSCA Board member Paul Lockington for a journey through hidden canyon footpaths of historical adventures. You will quietly explore the turtle marsh and head up an early stagecoach road that the early settlers of the Similkameen once trod. Walk the area locals called Starvation Jackson’s Flats and hear the story of how one of Jackson’s sons became one of the richest men in British Columbia. The group will finish on the lawn of Mountain Springs Nature Retreat with stories of the valley and its earliest residents, while being served a light snack – a selection of cheese, crackers and fruit with hot and cold beverages – courtesy of Phyllis Jmaeff, owner of the retreat.
