Description Of This Tour
Come along with the Burrowing Owl Conservation Society of BC (BOSC) and the Nature Trust of BC (NTBC) to explore NTBC’s amazing White Lake Basin Biodiversity Ranch. We will view an active burrowing owl field release site near White Lake and along the way learn about the great work that the NTBC has done to protect sensitive ecosystems and their plans for wetland creation. You will also be shown the work that has been done by the BOCS over the last 30 years to reintroduce Burrowing Owls back to the wild of BC. At this time of year there will be nesting owls and you may get a chance to see some eggs and maybe even some young burrowing owls. During the tour you will break for lunch and take part in a Q&A with BOCS BC’s staff Lauren Meads and Lia McKinnon and NTBC’s staff Alex Thomson. This is a unique opportunity to view active conservation and collaboration work in the Okanagan. Plus, you will get to meet up close and take photos of the education Burrowing Owl Pluto. There is no cell reception in the basin so please plan to disconnect and embrace nature! NTBC staff will have Satellite Devices in case of emergency.
