You will hike along the eastern trail through open forest, by massive rock outcroppings, up to a series of flats and alkaline lakes. A short steep hike takes you up to a cool rich plateau, and back down the other side to White Lake itself. You will stop along the way to identify and discuss the diversity of grassland plants that make this area so special. While enjoying the flora of the grasslands, you will learn about the ecology of this unique habitat, and the challenges it faces on the edge of development. Suitable for ages 8 and up.
