MNF Waiver: Every person must sign this waiver here
Join biologist and Southern Interior Land Trust Executive Director Al Peatt and terrestrial ecologist and ornithologist Dr. Jason Jones for a guided tour of nʔaʕx̌ʷt- Ginty’s Pond, a hidden ecological gem at Cawston, in smelqmix territory. This serene wetland, in the process of being restored, is a haven for wildlife—home to songbirds, waterfowl, reptiles & amphibians, and vibrant vegetation that sustains life throughout the Similkameen.
Participants will learn how Ginty’s Pond supports species at risk (you may see a Lewis’s Woodpecker) and discover how local conservation partnerships are making a lasting difference for wildlife conservation and watershed security in the BC Southern Interior. This easy-paced walk is ideal for any-age nature enthusiasts, birders, photographers, and anyone curious about our living landscape. Please bring weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear, binoculars if you can, and your curiosity about the natural world.
