Join local educator Josée Bergeron to grab your dip nets and curiosity for a splashy adventure into the world of pond minibeasts! In this hands-on family workshop, we’ll explore the hidden life beneath the surface, safely and respectfully scooping, observing, and learning about fascinating tiny creatures like water beetles, snails, and wriggly larvae. With plenty of time for discovery, children and adults alike will connect with nature in a playful, memorable way. Prepare to get a little wet, a little muddy, and a whole lot inspired!

Josée Bergeron (she/her) is a French-Canadian Indigenous Métis who has been helping parents feel at home in nature since 2009. As a mother of five, ages two to seventeen, Bergeron has over a decade-and-a-half of experience guiding both her children as well as other families into nature. Viewed as parenting expert on the topic of raising outdoor kids and parent-child-nature connection, Josee is creator of the popular blog, Backwoods Mama, and has a forthcoming book Beyond the Front Door: Embracing Nature for a Happier, Healthier Family set to be released Spring 2026.
