Mahoney Lake is a glorious place to explore in the spring with a profusion of flowers and birds. Margaret Holm leads this 6 km spring ramble where the group will stop frequently to explore features of the grassland and ponderosa forest setting. Both Mahoney Lake and White Lake are interesting saline lakes with their own unique properties. Margaret will show the group cell phone apps that increase enjoyment and identification of local flora and birds. With her extensive experience in parks, museums and local conservation, Margaret will touch on conservation, history and wildlife research topics. Please note that cellphones must be in airplane mode, as the radio signal interferes with the work done near White Lake at the Dominion Radio Astronomical Observatory
Margaret Holm has lived in the Okanagan for thirty years, working for many cultural and conservation organizations as a writer and educator. Her current passion is climate change community engagement.
