Join snake researchers from Thompson Rivers University (aka the snake team) on a 4.5 km hike through the White Lake Grasslands Protected Area. Explore the natural habitats of reptiles in the South Okanagan while learning about BC’s grassland snakes and the conservation issues that many of these at-risk animals face. Find out about the important snake research that has been conducted within the White Lake Basin and the effectiveness of a current project that mitigates snake mortality on roads. You may spot a snake if you keep your eyes and ears open (species like the Western Rattlesnake, Great Basin Gopher snake and Western Yellow-Bellied Racer) as you learn about the variety of herpetofauna that live in this arid, northern climate. Long pants are a must! Suitable for all ages who are keen to hike.
