Tour Leaders: Jenna Bower and the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre
MNF Waiver: Every person must sign this waiver here
Come learn about the 7 different snake species in the South Okanagan at the Nk’Mip Desert Cultural Centre. The center is the site of the longest running snake research program in Western Canada, with over two decades of rattlesnake mark recapture and movement data. In this tour, we will also cover how to coexist with snakes, and what to do in the event of a snake bite. This tour is led by our lead biologist. Should we be so lucky as to have a sunny day, we will hold this tour outside and walk the interpretive trails (1 km) to learn about the cultural significance of the habitat, and identify what habitat features a snake would seek out. Otherwise, we will hold this tour inside. Come meet our resident rattlesnake, gopher snake, and rubber boa!
