We will take you out on the land to observe, write, draw, drum, speak, or dance—whatever creative form you choose. Shuswap Elder Henry Michel and Settler ecologist Don Gayton are hosts of this event. Participants will have the option to share what they create. We will meet at the Vaseux Lake Bird Blind parking area and then carpool to a magical remnant of Okanagan shrub-steppe habitat, a place to reflect on the human-nature bond. Bring warm clothes, bag lunch, a sit-upon, and your creative instrument of choice.

Join Indigenous storyteller Henry Michel and Settler writer Don Gayton as we initiate this dialogue. We will go out onto the land, and start with a ceremonial welcome and introductions. Then we will write, sketch or both. In the in the afternoon we will gather in a sharing circle to present our creations and stories, and support each other’s creative work.
