Join Renee Martin of the Penticton Outdoors Club on a vigorous hike to the lookout at Guy’s Cache. It is a 3-hour hike with some steep sections and a short section with some exposure. There are many beautiful spring flowers (larkspur, bitter root, lupines) and interesting birds (meadowlarks, bluebirds). At the top there are excellent views of Mt Parker, Sheeprock and Apex, and Mahoney Lake. Hikers should bring warm clothes in case the weather changes. Good hiking boots are essential, and poles are useful. This is a strenuous hike. Good physical condition, good footwear, hats and water are essential. Suitable for ages 12 and up.
Renee Martin was a medical genetics professor in Calgary and learned to love the alpine wildflowers in the Rockies. As an experienced hiker, she is now happily retired in the Okanagan with many new vistas and species of wildflowers to appreciate.
